Service Tech
Department: Service
Reports to: Service Manager
Supervises: None
Purpose:
Performs diesel equipment diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on agricultural equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, service and repair a variety of diesel and gas agricultural equipment while providing outstanding customer service through interactions with customers, co workers and vendors.
- Repair equipment in shop, field or customer location.
- Participates in service training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge
- Maintains current knowledge of SMS Equipment and competitive products
- Maintains condition of vehicles, inventory, tools and equipment
- Manage time efficiently and work with minimal supervision
- Disassemble and assemble machine components to manufacturers specifications
- Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:
- 1 years of recent experience performing service repairs on diesel, gas or other combustion engines
- Ability to perform basic to advanced repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures on diesel and gas equipment
- Proficient knowledge of diesel and gasoline combustion engines, mechanical components & systems, electrical and hydraulic systems used in the repair of agricultural equipment
- Ability to use equipment specific and basic computer functions
- Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes
- Proficient oral and written communication skills
- Ability to lift at least 75 lbs. repeatedly
- Basic Service Technician certification preferred
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience required
- Valid drivers license is required
- Fork lift license preferred
