Position Overview
Meander at Shortgrass Resort is seeking an experienced, dependable Line Cook to work alongside our Executive Chef in delivering an exceptional dining experience for our guests. This position plays a key role in food preparation, line execution, kitchen organization, and maintaining the highest culinary and sanitation standards. The small team at Meander is professional, smart, and exceptionally good at what they do, maintaining a 5-star rating on OpenTable and Google.
The ideal candidate has prior cooking experience, enjoys working as part of a collaborative team, takes pride in craftsmanship, and is committed to consistently executing high-quality food in a fast-paced kitchen.
Hours & Availability
- Part-time (15–35 hours/week between 1 May and 30 Sep)
- Part-time (up to 15 hours/week between 1 Oct and 30 Apr)
- Evenings, weekends, and holidays likely
- Shifts vary based on occupancy and events
Responsibilities
- Work in support of the Executive Chef to deliver exceptional dinner service
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and presentation standards
- Assist with food preparation, portioning, and mise en place before service
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workstation throughout service
- Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment as needed
- Assist with receiving, rotating, and properly storing food deliveries
- Restock kitchen supplies and service stations
- Sweep, mop, and sanitize kitchen floors and work surfaces
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and kitchen safety procedures
- Assist with opening and closing kitchen duties
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Chef or management
Requirements
- Previous cooking or line cook experience required
- Ability to prepare food consistently in a professional kitchen environment
- Dependable and punctual
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to follow direction while working independently when needed
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to bend, reach, climb stairs, and perform physical work
