Responsibilities include academic planning, institutional research, accreditation, workforce development, academic budgeting, and alignment with the mission of the African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and support the academic mission of Shorter College, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Serve as a principal advisor to the President on matters related to curriculum and instruction, faculty recruitment, assignment, development, and retention.
- Serve as the institutional liaison for accreditation. Coordinate all accreditation-related efforts including reaffirmation, substantive changes, annual reporting, and specialized program accreditations. Ensure compliance is embedded in the institution’s planning and evaluation processes.
- Oversee academic budget planning and financial analysis related to Institutional Effectiveness, including position management, requisitions, and long-range planning.
- Cultivate a culture of evidence and accountability across the institution by supporting the development and assessment of institutional goals, student learning outcomes, and support service outcomes.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to implement the strategic goals of the College and its academic divisions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- A Master's degree in higher education administration, psychology, workforce development, or a related field is preferred.
- A Bachelor’s degree is required, with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in academic affairs.
- College-level teaching experience is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in policy development, shared governance, accreditation processes, curriculum design, student experience, and faculty development.
- Proven leadership ability with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Capacity to inspire, motivate, and manage diverse teams in an academic setting.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to manage multiple priorities and build collaborative partnerships.
- Valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance are required.
- Must be able to sit, talk, hear, and use hands and arms regularly.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- May be required to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent use of computers, telephones, and standard office equipment.
