Ophthalmic Technician
Short Hills Ophthalmology – Clifton & Short Hills, NJ
Short Hills Ophthalmology is seeking a professional, motivated, and compassionate Ophthalmic Technician to join our growing team. This role is essential in providing exceptional patient care, supporting our physicians, and ensuring smooth clinical operations across both our Clifton and Short Hills locations.

What You’ll Do
- Welcome and prepare patients for their eye exams.
- Document medical history, chief complaints, medications, and allergies.
- Perform preliminary assessments (visual acuity, IOP checks, auto-refraction, etc.).
- Conduct diagnostic testing (OCT, visual fields, topography, etc.) as ordered.
- Administer eye drops and provide patient instructions.
- Assist doctors during exams and minor procedures.
- Answer patient questions and return calls/messages.
- Educate patients and provide post-visit instructions.
- Assist with specialized care such as LAL post-op and contact lens training.
- Manage prescription refills, prior authorizations, and follow-up questions.
- Document all communication accurately in the EMR.
- Train and support new staff members as needed.
- Maintain clean, organized exam rooms and equipment.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information.
- Follow infection control and HIPAA protocols at all times.
- Support your teammates to ensure smooth and efficient office flow.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
