Facilities Manager
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Facilities Manager to oversee the maintenance, repair, and daily operations of the Club’s buildings, courts, and grounds. The Facilities Manager supervises the Building & Grounds Team, which supports all Club departments. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who takes pride in presentation, safety, and functionality — ensuring an exceptional member and staff experience every day.
This support role collaborates closely with all Department Heads to ensure a high-quality and engaging experience for all members.
The position reports directly to the General Manager and works closely with the Chair of various Committee.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and perform daily/preventive maintenance of Club facilities, including dining outlets, courts, locker rooms, offices, grounds, and mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire safety).
- Supervise and maintain the Har-Tru tennis courts, platform tennis courts, and squash courts, ensuring top-quality playing conditions.
- Collaborate with the Food & Beverage team and Racquets Director for room/event set-up, repairs, and maintenance needs.
- Delegate and supervise maintenance tasks; perform hands-on repairs as needed.
- Schedule routine inspections and emergency repairs; manage preventive maintenance programs.
- Negotiate and manage service provider and vendor contracts.
- Coordinate with the Pool Director for routine equipment and repair needs.
- Prepare facilities for seasonal transitions (e.g., landscaping, winterizing, snow removal, irrigation).
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and building regulations.
- Collaborate with the General Manager and Committees on budgeting, project planning, capital improvements, and long-term facility strategy.
- Create reports and logs for maintenance, repairs, and safety matters.
- Supervise, train, and motivate the Building & Grounds team; foster a positive, professional, and safety-focused culture.
· Ensure that SHC members and guests enjoy an exceptional experience by providing consistent, friendly, and exemplary service.
- Lead by example with professionalism, strong work ethic, attention to detail, and clear communication.
· A 40 hour work week, including weekends and holidays, is required
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will be a hands-on and enthusiastic leader who thrives on supporting multiple departments and maintains a whatever-it-takes attitude to deliver an exceptional member and staff experience.
We are looking to round out the team with someone comfortable and effective in communicating with a sophisticated membership.
- Must possess a professional demeanor, a good work ethic, a team mentality, and love what they do.
- Minimum 5 years of facilities management experience, preferably in a private club, hospitality, school, or resort setting.
- Advanced mechanical skills and knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems preferred.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain systems and repairs to non-technical club leadership.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated vendor management and project coordination experience.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, lift heavy equipment, and work outdoors as needed.
- Certifications such as OSHA 30, CFM, or CPMM are a plus, but not required
