Schedule: Monday-Friday, 12PM-5PM with some flexibility required dependent on caseload
Position Description:
The Revenue Cycle Coordinator ensures the financial integrity and efficiency of the orthopaedic ambulatory surgery center. This position will oversee and manage the billing and reimbursement process by leveraging billing software tools to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely collections. Additionally, this role will promote efficient operations by completing administrative tasks including credentialing and implementing compliance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversees the surgical billing and coding process in collaboration with billing software while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reimbursement
- Monitors reimbursement trends for orthopedics services and participates in cost analyzation of procedures
- Maintains and optimizes billing/EMR systems for efficiency and accuracy.
- Identifies and implements improvements to ensure compliance with payer guidelines
- Resolves denials and appeals, escalating issues as needed
- Partners with the clinical staff to ensure documentation supports accurate billing and coding
- Serves as an administrative resource for team members regarding billing and reimbursement processes
- Performs insurance verification, preauthorization, and clearance measures
- Manages complex cases such as out of network, self pay, and charity care
- Upholds HIPAA standards and confidentiality at all times
- Recruits and trains administrative team members as needed
- Ensures adherence to Medicare, AAAHC, and specific regulatory requirements
- Supports staff credentialing activities and maintains accurate records
- Participates in audits, quality improvement initiatives, and compliance reviews
- Prepares and reviews financial reports, vendor reports, and cash flow analysis
- Collaborates with the director on vendor management, including managing the revenue cycle and billing management company
Skills, Experience, & Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field
- Experience in ASC or orthopaedic practice management preferred
- Strong understanding of orthopaedic procedures and payer requirements
- Proficiency in EMR and billing software-SIS and EcW preferred
- Leadership and organization skills
Working & Environmental Conditions:
- Primarily in an indoor clinical/office setting with moderate noise levels. Occasional lifting of 25 pounds is required. Schedule flexibility is required for coverage depending on caseload. The role may require prolonged periods of sitting and frequent use of computer equipment.
