As a Captain with Shoreline Sightseeing, you will be responsible for the safe navigation and operation of our vessels, ensuring the security and well-being of both the crew and passengers. This role demands leadership, situational awareness, and an unwavering commitment to safety. You will be tasked with directing emergency procedures, leading drills, and maintaining a well-prepared, well-maintained vessel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety and security of passengers and crew through proactive navigation and situational awareness
- Enforce company policies to deliver a safe and enjoyable experience for guests and employees alike
- Oversee a clean, well-maintained vessel and address any operational concerns promptly
- Lead emergency drills and provide hands-on training for both new and veteran crew members
- Monitor and report all incidents, including maritime casualties or security concerns, in a timely manner
- Act as the Vessel Security Officer, ensuring compliance with USCG security regulations
- Coordinate with maintenance personnel to complete any required repairs or adjustments to the vessel
Requirements:
- Ability to stand for up to 1.5 hours at a time
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable ascending/descending ladders and working in enclosed spaces
- Willingness to work outdoors in extreme heat or cold conditions
- Must be available during peak traffic periods, including weekends and holidays
Required Credentials:
- Transportation Worker’s Identification Credential (TWIC)
- Merchant Mariner’s Document (MMD)
- US Coast Guard Medical Certificate
- Marine Radio Operator’s Permit (MROP)
- CPR/First Aid certification
