Job Summary
We are looking for a Turbidity Control Specialist to support a large-scale marine construction project. This position is responsible for daily turbidity monitoring, maintaining turbidity control measures, documenting field activities, and assisting the project team with environmental compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor water turbidity daily using a nephelometric turbidity monitor and visual observation.
  • Inspect, maintain, and make minor repairs to floating turbidity curtains.
  • Operate a small boat to access monitoring areas and perform required inspections.
  • Monitor the surrounding area for wildlife and report any observations or concerns.
  • Perform basic rigging tasks related to turbidity control equipment.
  • Maintain accurate daily records of turbidity monitoring and field activities.
  • Prepare and compile reports and documentation for project submittals.
  • Communicate monitoring results and any issues to the project team.
  • Assist the marine construction team with other project-related tasks as needed.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and project environmental requirements.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in environmental monitoring, marine construction, water quality, or a related field is preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate and handle a small boat.
  • Basic rigging skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work outdoors in a marine construction environment and in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work independently, follow instructions, and maintain accurate records.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize and report environmental concerns.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with turbidity monitoring or water quality testing.
  • Experience with turbidity curtains or other environmental controls used on marine construction projects.
  • Experience monitoring wildlife or working under environmental permit requirements.
  • Experience working on marine construction, dredging, shoreline, or similar projects.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods.
  • Ability to board and operate a small boat safely.
  • Ability to perform light physical work, including handling equipment and assisting with turbidity curtain maintenance and basic rigging tasks.
