Part-Time Faculty Pool – Business Administration Instructor

Salary Range: $18,085 - $20,575/quarter if at 100% FTE dependent upon education/experience
This positions also qualifies for an additional High Demand Supplemental Salary of up to $2,311 / quarter

The Business Administration Department at Shoreline College offers a broad range of academic and professional-technical programs, including Business Administration, Accounting, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Purchasing & Supply Chain Management, and Business Intelligence & Data Analytics (BIDA). Our curriculum includes rigorous university-transfer courses as well as applied workforce programs designed in collaboration with industry partners.

We serve a diverse student population that includes first-generation students, international students, running-start students, professional-technical students, career changers, and working adults. Faculty in our department are committed to excellence in teaching, culturally responsive pedagogy, and supporting student success pathways across multiple program areas.

Part-Time Business Administration instructors may be assigned to teach in-person, hybrid, or online courses. While some online or hybrid teaching may be available, this position requires the ability to provide high-quality, interactive, Regular and Substantive Instruction (RSI) consistent with college and accreditation standards.

Faculty will engage students using learner-centered approaches, support students through accessible course design, and collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and department initiatives.

Courses
Faculty in this part-time pool may teach across a wide range of introductory and intermediate Business Administration offerings. Courses span core areas such as introduction to business, human relations and professional development, principles of marketing, management, and human resources. Additional assignments may include project management, materials and contract management, social media marketing, entrepreneurship, business communications, and, if appropriately qualified, foundational courses in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics. Course assignments vary each quarter based on enrollment, program needs, and faculty qualifications.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or closely related business field such as Management, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Science, Operations, Supply Chain, or Business/Data Analytics
  • Experience teaching in higher education or training/teaching adults in a professional setting.
Knowledge of
  • Current trends, practices, and emerging developments in the business field, informed by industry experience and applied workplace contexts
  • Core business technologies, including Microsoft Office applications such as Teams, Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Learning management systems and instructional tools (for example, Canvas, Panopto, ctcLink, Starfish), or a willingness to learn these platforms
  • Effective online and hybrid teaching methods, including Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI) and other student-centered strategies
Skill in
  • Bringing real-world industry experience into the teaching of Business Administration
  • Creating engaging, student-centered learning experiences that connect theory to workplace application
  • Fostering an inclusive, equitable learning environment that supports students from diverse backgrounds and abilities
  • Adapting instructional approaches for in-person, hybrid, and online settings
  • Developing or modifying curriculum both independently and collaboratively to align with industry standards and program needs
  • Communicating clearly and working effectively with colleagues, staff, students, and community or industry partners

Conditions of Employment

The College is currently in mixed (both in-person and online) operations, with the option for some assignments to be completed in an online environment based on program or area needs. For remote instruction, faculty will need to provide their own workspace and internet access, noting the College will provide technical equipment and support for online work needs. For on-campus in-person instruction, work is usually performed in a classroom/office/lab space that requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. Faculty typically use computers, media equipment, and field specific tools in the work environment.

Terms of Employment & Salary
  • This is a part-time, non-tenured, quarter-to-quarter assignment.
  • Salary placement is determined by the number of qualifying years of teaching/work experience combined with education.
  • Hiring of this position is contingent upon available funding as determined by the College President.
