What are the responsibilities and job description for the ESOL Co-Manager Evenings position at Shoreline Adult Education?
Position Overview: The SAE Evening ESOL Co-Manager is a part-time, ten-month position (approximately 15 hours per week) with the possibility of limited additional summer hours depending on funding. This role is an integral part of the SAE Management Team, responsible for the oversight of the evening ESOL classes and staff. The ESOL Co-Manager reports directly to the SAE Director.
Locations: Branford High School and Morgan High School (Clinton)
Approximate Schedule:
- Mondays - 4:15 - 8:15 PM - Branford
- Tuesdays and Wednesdays - Alternating between Branford (4:15 - 8:15 PM) and Morgan High School (Clinton) (5:30 - 8:00 PM)
- Thursdays - 5:30 - 8:00 PM - Morgan High School (Clinton)
Start date and Compensation:
- Training/Orientation: May 2026.
- Full Schedule Begins: August 10, 2026.
- Rate: $47 per hour.
Major Areas of Responsibility
- Program Leadership & Strategy: Coordinate the evening ESOL and Citizenship programming, including the development of semester schedules and the selection of instructional materials and digital resources.
- Grant Management & Compliance: Lead the annual writing of the federal PEP EL Civics grant. Monitor program implementation to ensure all state and federal grant requirements are met through mid-year and year-end reporting.
- Staff Supervision & Development: Oversee the recruitment, hiring, and orientation of part-time evening teachers, aides and volunteers. Conduct observations and evaluations to support professional growth and facilitate quarterly staff meetings and professional development.
- Curriculum & Instructional Excellence: Ensure all coursework aligns with Connecticut State Department of Education (SDE) requirements, including College and Career Readiness and English Language Proficiency Standards.
- Data Oversight & Assessment: In collaboration with the Program Facilitator and ESOL Program Assistant, oversee student data collection (registration, attendance, assessment and outcomes) within the LACES database. Use knowledge of the CASAS Assessment System to inform classroom instruction and professional development.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of ESOL teaching experience.
- Certification: Valid CT Teaching Certification with Endorsement #088 (English to Non-English Speaking Adults) or #111 (TESOL). 092 Administrator certification is a plus.
- Skills: Proficient in Google Workspace Applications, including Google Classroom.
- Cultural Competency: Proven ability to work with diverse populations and individuals with limited English proficiency.
