Cake Decorator

Pay Range: $16.50-$18.00/Hour

SRS is seeking a full-time Cake Decorator to join our ShopRite of Warwick team!

The job purpose of a Cake Decorator is to creatively design and expertly decorate cakes, cupcakes, and other baked goods to meet both standard store offerings and custom customer orders, ensuring high-quality artistry, product freshness, and strict adherence to food safety standards, thereby enhancing customer satisfaction and driving bakery sales.

Duties:

Artistic Decoration: Designing and executing a wide range of cake and pastry decorations using various techniques (e.g., frosting, piping, fondant, edible images) to create visually appealing products that meet store standards and customer specifications.

Custom Order Fulfillment: Consulting with customers to understand their specific decoration needs for special occasions, accurately translating requests into finished products, and ensuring timely completion of orders.

Preparation & Production: Preparing icings, fillings, and glazes; ensuring proper consistency and color; and maintaining adequate supplies of decorating materials.

Quality Control: Ensuring that all decorated items are fresh, free from defects, and meet the highest standards of presentation and taste.

Sanitation & Hygiene: Strictly adhering to all food safety, cleaning, sanitation, and hygiene regulations, including proper handwashing, cross-contamination prevention, regular cleaning of equipment (ovens, cases), and maintaining a clean workstation.

Merchandising Support: Assisting with the attractive display of decorated items in the bakery case, ensuring proper labeling and pricing.

Inventory & Waste Management: Monitoring stock of decorating supplies, ordering as needed, and minimizing waste of ingredients and finished products.

Efficiency & Time Management: Completing decoration tasks efficiently to meet production schedules and customer deadlines, while working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Professional Conduct and Communication: Following management instructions, providing constructive feedback, completing all required training (including on company technologies and equipment), adhering to company policies and health regulations, and operating powered equipment only if trained. Performing all other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a bakery or related retail food environment is preferred.
• Demonstrate basic math and English language proficiency.
• Meet physical demands: stand, walk, crouch, bend, stretch, regularly lift 25 lbs., up to 50 lbs., and perform duties that require significant walking, pushing, and pulling of equipment.
• Work in varying temperature conditions.

This position is eligible for vision, dental, life insurance, and legal plan benefits, which become available on a graduated basis over time according to the terms of the collective bargaining agreement (“CBA”). Paid time off (sick time, personal days, vacation days, and holidays) will accrue on a graduated basis over time in accordance with the CBA. Retirement benefits (pension or 401k) become available over time in accordance with the CBA.
