Shop-Vac USA, LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of GreatStar Tools USA, whose other operating companies include Arrow Fastener Co., LLC & Prime-Line Products.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: The Accountant will report directly to Director Finance & Accounting, serving as a onsite team player and contributes to Shop-Vac USA & SK Hand Tools business success by performing various accounting and control functions, and assisting in the preparation/reconciliation of financial reports and analyses.
ABOUT THE POSITION: The Accountant is responsible for supporting the accounting team in preparing monthly journal entries and account reconciliations as well as performing financial analysis and various internal control procedures as required to support Shop-Vac and SK Tools accounting and internal control framework process..
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare asset, liability and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information
- Document financial transactions by entering account information
- Summarize current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement and other reports
- Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents
- Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
- Reconcile financial information by completing database backups
- Verify, allocate, post and reconcile transactions
- Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
- Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
- Prepare special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information
- Complete internal and external audits to ensure compliance
- Support month-end and year-end close process
- Maintain the Fixed Asset and CIP systems, and perform physical asset inventory audits.
- Provide monthly tracking and month-end accruals and reporting for: Prepaids, Scrap Shipments, Repairs & Maintenance, Freight, Utilities, and Other Receivables.
- Handle various P&L & Balance Sheet monthly closing tasks, including journal entry preparations and reconciliations of internal books
- Reconcile all Intercompany accounts, including Payroll, Wire/ACH payments, etc. each month.
- Perform banking acct. maintenance and monthly reconciliation.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 1 years of Accounting/Finance experience (internships and co-ops accepted). Experience in a manufacturing environment or consumer products company preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of income statement preparation, balance sheet analysis, and capital project spending process. Working knowledge of GAAP and internal control procedures.
- Strong proficiency level in Microsoft Office Excel and building spreadsheets
- Experience with ERP, Fixed Asset, Contract Management, AS400, and MAPICS a plus
- Detail-oriented and thorough
- Team player, who is also a self-starter with the ability to work independently and show initiative.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
