Role Overview
As a Cybersecurity Specialist Intern, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the security, integrity, and resilience of our entire e-commerce platform. This is a highly focused and technical position for individuals who possess the expertise to analyze, architect, and implement robust security measures. You will collaborate directly with our CTO, Director of Development, and other senior leaders to design and enforce advanced security protocols across our systems and operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Advanced Risk & Vulnerability Management
Conduct comprehensive penetration tests and vulnerability assessments to rigorously identify and remediate security weaknesses across the infrastructure.
Lead threat modeling exercises and implement strategic solutions to mitigate identified potential risks proactively.
2. Threat Detection and Incident Response
Establish, configure, and manage advanced threat detection and security information and event management (SIEM) systems.
Lead incident response efforts, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure swift, effective resolution of critical security incidents.
3. Policy, Compliance, and Governance
Develop and enforce high-level security policies and frameworks that align with industry standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, CCPA).
Provide expert guidance to ensure all security practices comply with relevant regulations.
4. Security Architecture and Infrastructure
Architect and maintain security solutions such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and advanced encryption protocols.
Design and implement secure network architectures and access controls to protect sensitive data and proprietary assets.
5. Collaboration and Reporting
Collaborate directly with DevSecOps and development teams to embed security into the software development lifecycle (SSDLC).
Prepare detailed reports on key security metrics, incident analysis, and system performance for senior leadership.
Qualifications
Proven professional experience in cybersecurity with a strong focus on vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and advanced threat analysis.
Deep working knowledge of core security tools and frameworks, including SIEM systems, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and encryption protocols.
Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance standards (NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR, CCPA).
Expertise in secure network architecture, data protection strategies, and comprehensive risk management.
Hands-on experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and container security best practices.
Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to lead decisively in high-pressure, incident-response situations.
Strong communication and collaboration skills for working effectively with technical and executive stakeholders.
