Utilities Engineer
Overview:
The Utilities Engineer will be responsible for supporting the operation, maintenance, and reliability of critical clean utility systems within a regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This role will focus on ensuring compliant, reliable, and efficient operation of systems including WFI, clean steam, purified water, and other GMP utilities. The Utilities Engineer will work cross-functionally with Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing to ensure systems remain in a state of control, inspection-ready, and capable of supporting ongoing operations.
Responsibilities:
Provide day-to-day engineering support for clean utility systems including WFI, clean steam, purified water, and associated distribution systems.
Support and oversee operation and maintenance activities for GMP utility systems to ensure reliability, compliance, and continuous availability.
Monitor system performance, review trends, and identify opportunities for optimization, reliability improvement, and compliance enhancement.
Troubleshoot utility system issues, lead investigations, and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Ensure utility systems are maintained in a validated and compliant state, including support of requalification and periodic review activities.
Review and approve maintenance procedures, SOPs, and work instructions related to utility system operation and maintenance.
Support commissioning, qualification, and validation activities for new or modified utility systems.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to utility reliability, efficiency, and lifecycle management.
Required Experience:
Hands-on experience with WFI, clean steam, and purified water systems is required.
Strong understanding of GMP requirements and pharmaceutical utility system compliance expectations.
Experience supporting operations and maintenance of validated utility systems.
Familiarity with commissioning, qualification, and validation of utility systems.
