Shogun Japanese Restaurant is looking for a friendly, organized, and fast-moving individual to join our front-of-house team as a To-Go Food Packer & Host. This hybrid role is perfect for someone who enjoys delivering great guest experiences both in person and behind the scenes. You’ll play a key role in managing to-go operations and welcoming guests into our restaurant.

Responsibilities

As a To-Go Food Packer / Expediter:

• Take and manage phone and in-person to-go orders with professionalism and accuracy.
• Coordinate and monitor the flow of orders between the kitchen and front-of-house to ensure timely and precise packing.
• Double-check each order to ensure all items are included, properly labeled, and meet our quality standards.
• Communicate clearly with kitchen staff and servers to handle special requests or order changes.
• Keep the packing station clean, organized, and stocked during service.
• Assist with light food prep or handling as needed, following all health and safety standards.
• Monitor inventory of to-go supplies and alert management when restocking is needed.
• Deliver outstanding customer service with every interaction — whether on the phone or during pickup

As a Host:

• Greet every guest warmly and professionally as they arrive, creating a welcoming first impression.
• Manage the waitlist and seating chart, assigning tables efficiently and according to server rotation.
• Guide guests to their assigned tables and provide menus, informing them of any specials or wait times.
• Answer incoming phone calls, assist with to-go orders, and provide accurate information about the menu or restaurant.
• Prepare, pack, and process payment for to-go orders, ensuring accuracy and quality before handing them off to the guest.
• Support front desk teammates by assisting with various tasks as directed, helping to maintain smooth and efficient front-of-house operations.
• Maintain a clean and organized host stand and lobby area to ensure a positive guest experience.

Requirements

• Prior experience in a restaurant or food service setting preferred.
• Strong multitasking and communication skills.
• Ability to remain calm, focused, and efficient in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and presentation.
• Team player with a positive, guest-focused attitude.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and peak dining hours.
