We are looking to add an technical Buyer to our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has procurement experience and is looking to grow in their career. The Buyer will be an integral part of the Procurement function in the achievement of clear objectives. Must have a strong background in procurement, the Buyer is expected to be data driven and provide effective and efficient communication to internal and external parties. The candidate for this position must be disciplined and have a technical understanding and will be working with the engineering department. The buyer will avoid single sourcing situations early in the development of new items. The focus will include sourcing of prototype parts and of the shelf brands for potential production use. Buyer will interact with Category Managers, Engineers, and suppliers. This individual will need to embrace change, promote continuous improvement, be flexible and agile. This role will report to a Strategic Sourcing Manager.
The role requires experience in a contract manufacturing environment of planning, and coordinating all procurement activities including expediting, material management, and analytical problem solver. The buyer shall be assigned to procuring electronics, fuses, connectors, components and other items.
Qualifications:Responsibilities:
• Process purchase requisitions, RFx, and issue purchase orders to suppliers.
• Assist in identifying opportunities and managing action plans to achieve department goals, on-time delivery, and cost savings.
• Communicate with suppliers to resolve problems with timeliness and product design and quality.
• Assist strategic sourcing category manager by assuming higher levels of responsibility that bring value to the organization and procurement team.
• Maintain and cultivate relationships internally and externally.
• Support various procurement duties with the direction of the Strategic Category Manager.
• Support governance of the Shoals Statement of Requirement, focused on continual improvements.
• Ensure all documentation is recorded, and cost analysis of source selection is appropriately confirmed with the Strategic Category Manager.
• Works with existing suppliers to secure future capacity, the right materials, at the right time, at the right price and in the right quantities.
• Expedites purchase orders for engineering requirements.
• Assess existing orders to determine action for expediting for optimal delivery.
• Follow-up on the status of purchase orders with vendors to ensure timely delivery; and communicate status of orders with internal customers.
• Monitor, report all information related to the arrival of materials to ensure production timelines are maintained; may coordinate the return of damaged goods and/or replacement items.
• Perform administrative tasks and updates associated with supplier records, nonconformance, item master data.
• Works closely with internal departments to ensure supply continuity meets on time delivery.
• Actively address opportunities and resolve gaps in account payables due to supplier nonconformance. Assist with the authorization for payment of invoices, as necessary.
• Work closely with the accounting department to resolve problems with invoices and set up accounts with new suppliers.
• Identify and recommend process changes to improve workflow efficiencies and effectiveness.
• Experience in a Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) environment highly desirable.
• Support supplier KPI measurement data and related reports as requested.
• Review Engineering Change Notices (ECN) with suppliers and internal customers to determine impact to cost, timing and changes associated.
• Minimal travel as needed.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree a plus but will assess years of experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, sourcing buyer in a discrete contract manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read blueprints is required
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing process purchase requisitions, formal RFx, and issue purchase orders to suppliers
• Minimum of 3 years of experience reviewing Engineering Change Notices (ECN) with suppliers and internal customers
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in cost modeling
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Effective communication skills, enjoy building relationships and collaborating with teams.
• Must be flexible and adaptive to change.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, solutions driven and proven track record of success.
• Experience working in a small components/metals/plastics and/or electronic materials is required
• Ability to multi-task and work with multiple stakeholders simultaneously
• Experience with ERP system, Great Plains (GP) experience a plus
