An incoming Quality inspector is the first line in ensuring that no defective raw materials or parts reach the manufacturing line or the customer. The role of the incoming inspector is to use robust, pre-defined inspection processes to verify that, in line with customer, statutory, and regulatory requirements, material manufacturers are indeed meeting the standards they hold themselves to in their certificates of conformance and datasheets.

Description
An incoming Quality inspector is the first line in ensuring that no defective raw materials or parts reach the manufacturing line or the customer. The role of the incoming inspector is to use robust, pre-defined inspection processes to verify that, in line with customer, statutory, and regulatory requirements, material manufacturers are indeed meeting the standards they hold themselves to in their certificates of conformance and datasheets.
Duties
- Performing visual/dimensional inspections on materials such as: Wire products, PV connectors, fuses, molding material, Electrical enclosures, and various electrical components, electrical disconnect units, surge protection devices, fuse holders, standoff insulators, Plastic paneling, various EV components - including EV chargers, transformer units, steel bases, Stainless steel hardware, etc.
- Maintain records and documentation related to the inspection process or materials that are used. Such documentation/records would include Inspection sheets, failure logs, testing records and reports, manufacturer certificates of conformance, manufacturer datasheets, internal information sheets and visual aids that describe material characteristics and facilitate material identification.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Abilities:
- An attention to detail and sensitivity to minute differences among similar looking products.
- The ability to read technical drawings and to understand concepts such as specifications and tolerances.
- The ability to measure, in both Standard and Metric systems, using such instruments as calipers, micrometers, and measuring tapes, and to be willing to be trained in the use of such instruments as pull-testers, torque analyzers, and hi-pot testers.
- The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. An ease with paperwork and the ability to maintain good records, both on paper and electronically.
- The ability to complete and maintain records of higher-level evaluation and performance.
- An ability to create new documentation that facilitate the inspection process and product understanding.
- The ability to use such Quality instruments such as 5-Why Analyses and Fishbone Diagrams.
- Facility in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
- Willingness to learn statistical software such as Minitab or QI Macros.
- Minimum of 6 months’ experience in Manufacturing Quality environment.
- Must be able to work at an elevated height up to 20 feet.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to repetitively bend, squat, kneel, push, pull, lift, and stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Must be able to work in a manufacturing facility environment.
