Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during medical examinations, surgeries, and procedures by preparing equipment, maintaining aseptic technique, and monitoring patient status.
- Perform animal restraint and handling with confidence to ensure safety for both animals and staff during examinations and treatments.
- Collect laboratory samples such as blood, urine, or tissue specimens for diagnostic testing while adhering to proper medical collection protocols.
- Maintain accurate medical records using veterinary software, including documenting treatments, medications, and client communications.
- Support pet care activities including administering medications and monitoring recovery from anesthesia or surgery.
- Manage kennel duties by cleaning enclosures, providing animal husbandry care, and ensuring a safe environment for all animals in the clinic.
- Communicate effectively with clients about pet health concerns, treatment plans, while demonstrating excellent customer service skills.
Experience
- Previous veterinary clinic experience is highly preferred; minimum of 1 year
- Experience with veterinary critical care practices such as emergency response and intensive patient monitoring.
- Knowledge of animal anatomy and restraint techniques to ensure safe procedures during examinations or treatments.
- Skilled in laboratory procedures including sample collection and processing for diagnostic testing.
- Familiarity with veterinary software systems for record keeping.
- Ability to adhere to Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) regulations and USDA guidelines related to medication handling and animal welfare.
We are open for emergencies Monday through Thursday 6 pm to 6 am and Friday 6 pm through Monday 6 am. We are also open on holidays. We offer flexible scheduling including 8 and 12 hour shifts.
