Learn more at shn.ca Job Description: Position Overview This role is responsible for the collection, analysis, validation, and reporting of Emergency Department (ED) data to support operational, quality, and funding requirements. The incumbent ensures the accuracy and integrity of data submitted through EPIC and other reporting systems, adhering to established reporting standards, timelines, and data quality requirements. The role requires a strong understanding of Emergency Department workflows, patient flow processes, clinical documentation practices, and performance metrics. Working closely with physicians, clinical staff, leadership, and support teams, the incumbent supports accurate data capture, monitors key performance indicators, and assists with reporting initiatives that inform operational planning, quality improvement, and service delivery. Reporting to the Director of Emergency Department, the successful candidate will collaborate with members of the interdisciplinary team to provide data support, reporting expertise, and education to ensure the accuracy and integrity of Emergency Department data. Responsibilities As an integral member of the Emergency Department team, duties include but are not limited to: Collect, validate, analyze, and reconcile Emergency Department data to support operational and performance reporting. Review and analyze reports generated through EPIC and other reporting systems; investigate discrepancies and ensure data accuracy. Monitor key Emergency Department indicators, including patient volumes, wait times, length of stay, admissions, transfers, and patient flow metrics. Provide education and feedback to managers and program lead regarding documentation requirements and data quality standards. Collaborate with physicians, clinical leaders, management, Decision Support, and Information Technology teams to improve data quality and reporting processes. Support quality improvement, patient flow, and operational planning initiatives through data analysis and reporting. Prepare routine and ad hoc reports as required to support departmental and organizational priorities. Requirements College Diploma or equivalent related to data management, health information management, health administration, or a related field. Minimum two (2) years of healthcare experience. Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical environment. Knowledge of Emergency Department operations, clinical documentation, and healthcare reporting. Strong knowledge of EPIC and other healthcare information systems. Excellent analytical, organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to prioritize competing demands and work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Minimum typing speed of 35 wpm with 90% accuracy (testing required). Asset Health-related undergraduate degree. Experience supporting Emergency Department reporting, quality improvement, patient flow, or performance measurement initiatives. Knowledge of additional EMR systems and healthcare databases.
