What are the responsibilities and job description for the Design Professional position at Shive-Hattery?
Description
Under the direction and oversight of licensed architects, propose designs and plans and ensure plans are executed by contractors and construction crews. Prepare drawing plans of structures using computer-aided design and drafting (BIM/CADD) software, including drafting and 3D modeling. Draft specifications for building materials, construction methods, quality of materials and processes. Follow through redline changes and revisions and assist in project detailing. Assemble plans, documents and other information to be used in permit applications and assist in procuring needed permits. Research applicable building, zoning and land development codes, obtain information on feasibility, and assess proposed materials. Assist senior architects with project and contract administration, including evaluation of work for compliance with plans and fielding calls from owners, inspectors and contractors as well as assist in streamlining the architectural design process from conceptual design through project completion. Navigate active construction site safely. Full-time in office position (Bettendorf, IA) with travel up to 10% of the time for client meetings, conferences, and to active construction sites primarily in the Quad Cities and Midwest.

Requirements
5-year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Architecture with 1.5 years of experience in architecture design and design process. This includes knowledge of architectural systems design and construction documentation with their associated technologies and of programming, planning, and building performance as well as Autodesk Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Google SketchUp, and AutoCAD 2D with an understanding of architectural specifications, building codes, life safety code, current ADA requirements, and building systems.
