JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Group Leader supports the management of the Maintenance team by coordinating daily activities, monitoring task progress, and providing hands-on assistance as needed. This role is responsible for training apprentices, overseeing special projects, and ensuring equipment reliability in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have experience with press/stamping machines, robotic welders, and other automated systems, and will demonstrate strong leadership, technical, and organizational skills.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / DUTIES:

Responsibilities and skills include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead daily operations by assigning tasks, setting priorities, and supervising maintenance personnel to ensure optimal team performance

  • Strategically plan manpower and overtime, adjusting staffing to meet fluctuating production demands and urgent maintenance n needs

  • Manage comprehensive maintenance programs, including preventive schedules, seasonal readiness, facility renovations, and equipment lifecycle upgrades

  • Oversee ongoing maintenance programs, including routine maintenance, seasonal preparations, renovation projects and scheduled upgrades

  • Maintain accurate departmental records, logs, and documentation

  • Create and adhere to an approved maintenance budget

  • Collaborate with third-party contractors and technicians as needed

  • Requisition tools, parts, and supplies necessary for maintenance operations

  • Provide hands-on support in troubleshooting and completing maintenance tasks

  • Train interns, apprentices and technicians (approximately 15% of role)

  • Collaborate with Production Team Managers to schedule preventive and corrective maintenance

  • Coordinate overtime and manpower planning to meet production demands

  • Advise management on performance issues and recommend disciplinary actions when necessary

  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and internal policies to maintain a safe working environment.

  • Champion continuous improvement efforts, driving initiatives that enhance equipment reliability, reduce maintenance costs, and improve operational efficiency

  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions for equipment failures, fostering a culture of problem-solving and accountability

QUALIFICATIONS:

· A. Progression Path with Post-Secondary Education

o BS or BSME degree

o 5 years of experience in press operations or management

o CMS, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Outlook, MS Teams

o Proficiency in particular department content

· B. Progression Path without Post-Secondary Education

o A Technical or Bachelor's degree is preferred; however, candidates with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment will be considered

o Prior experience in automotive manufacturing or a high-volume, precision-driven production setting is strongly preferred

o Proven proficiency in press/stamping equipment, robotic welding systems, and other automated machinery. Solid understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems is essential

o Working knowledge of integrated computer systems, including Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platforms, and predictive maintenance technologies.

o Strong communication, administrative, and organizational skills

o Ability to manage multiple projects and lead cross-functional teams

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook. Experience with data analysis and reporting tools is beneficial

· Demonstrated ability to manage and track maintenance programs, lead capital projects, and coordinate cross-functional initiatives from planning through execution

· Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to identifying root causes and implementing corrective action

· Commitment to driving process improvements, reducing downtime, and enhancing equipment reliability through strategic planning and innovation

· Proven ability to lead and develop cross-functional teams, manage multiple concurrent projects, and collaborate effectively with production, engineering, and quality departments

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55, $70,000.00 per year
