Duties
- Interpret design sketches, instructions and customer requests to execute garment construction and alterations with accuracy.
- Operate sewing machines efficiently to assemble, hem, or modify clothing items according to specifications.
- Inspect finished products for quality control, ensuring all seams, hems, and details meet high standards.
- Collaborate with team members to manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including proper care of sewing equipment and tools.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a seamstress or tailor with a strong portfolio of completed garments.
- Proficiency in operating various sewing machines and hand-sewing techniques.
- Knowledge of garment construction principles, fabric types, and sewing patterns.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and instructions accurately.
- Strong attention to detail with an eye for precision and quality craftsmanship.
- Basic math skills for measuring fabric, taking measurements, and calculating seam allowances.
- Experience working in fashion retail or similar environments is preferred but not required.
