Summer Camp Coordinator
Organization: Shiremanstown UMC

Reports to: Circle of Friends Director
Status: Seasonal / Full-Time (June 8 – August 15)

Role Overview
We are seeking a high-energy, organized, and faith-driven leader to oversee our school-age summer camp (serving children who have completed Grades K–5). You will lead the "boots on the ground" operations, mentoring a team of counselors and ensuring a safe, adventurous, and spiritually enriching summer for all campers.
Key Responsibilities
- Mission-Driven Leadership: Model a servant’s heart by leading with kindness and patience. Foster a positive camp culture where staff and students feel supported and valued.
- Program Execution: Plan and execute daily activities within budget including: special events, field trips, pool days, engaging activities, and snack.
- Team Management: Supervise and mentor a team of counselors. Lead daily huddles, manage staff schedules, and provide ongoing feedback to ensure a high standard of care.
- Parent Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for families. Provide consistent updates, handle check-in/out procedures, and address any concerns with professional grace.
- Operational Excellence: Manage camp supplies, activity budgets, and ensure all facilities are organized and camp-ready each day.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols including following SUMC’s Safe Sanctuary Policy
Qualifications
- Previous leadership experience in a childcare or camp setting, specifically with elementary-aged children.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A heart for service and a commitment to working in a faith-based environment.
- Ability to balance creative, high-energy engagement with meticulous attention to safety and logistics.
- Comfortable using digital tools for scheduling and parent communication.
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
