Experienced Barista

Shir Chai Co. – North Brunswick, NJ

Pay: $17.00–$22.00 per hour (based on experience and performance)

Shir Chai Co. is looking for an experienced, passionate barista to join our growing team. We're a busy, fast-paced Afghan café serving specialty coffee, handcrafted beverages, fresh pastries, and brunch. We're looking for someone who takes pride in making consistently excellent drinks while providing outstanding customer service.

This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for someone who already has experience working behind an espresso bar and can confidently handle busy rushes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare espresso-based beverages, teas, specialty drinks, and other café beverages to company standards.
• Operate and maintain a commercial espresso machine and coffee grinders.
• Steam milk with proper texture and temperature for lattes, cappuccinos, and other specialty drinks.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout the shift.
• Restock milk, syrups, coffee beans, cups, and other supplies.
• Accurately take customer orders and process payments through the POS system.
• Work efficiently during busy brunch and weekend rushes while maintaining drink quality.
• Follow recipes and ensure every beverage is made consistently.
• Assist with opening and closing duties.
• Work closely with the kitchen and front-of-house team to provide an excellent guest experience.

Qualifications

• Previous barista experience is required.
• Experience using commercial espresso equipment is strongly preferred.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds.
• Weekend availability is highly preferred.
