What are the responsibilities and job description for the Freight Forwarder position at Shipping International, Inc.?
Shipping International, Inc. is a long-established Houston-based (Humble) freight forwarder and customs broker handling everything from routine shipments to project cargo, hazardous materials, and time-critical moves.
We’re looking for an experienced operator who can take full ownership of shipments from start to finish. This is not a management role—just solid, hands-on forwarding work in a fast-moving environment.
Responsibilities:
• Manage import and export shipments (air, ocean, domestic)
• Coordinate with carriers, truckers, warehouses, and overseas agents
• Prepare and review documentation (B/Ls, AES, ISF, invoices, etc.)
• Arrange pickups, routing, and final delivery
• Communicate clearly with customers and partners
• Resolve day-to-day issues (delays, holds, documentation problems)
• Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and regulatory requirements
Requirements:
• Prior freight forwarding experience (not entry-level)
• Strong understanding of import/export processes and documentation
• Ability to manage files independently
• Organized and able to handle multiple shipments at once
• Strong communication skills
Experience with systems such as NetCHB, AES/ACE filings, or similar forwarding platforms is helpful but not required.
If you know how to move freight and keep a file clean from start to finish, we want to hear from you
