Shipman & Goodwin is seeking a full-time Trust and Estates Paralegal, to be based in and working from our Boston, MA office. The ideal candidate will be growth-focused and able to work both collaboratively and independently with multiple attorneys and other legal staff on the team. Salary range for this role is $75,000 to $110,000/year.
Specific responsibilities and duties include:
- Collaborate with various individuals within and outside the firm’s Finance Department regarding workflow and other issues
- Organize and manage case files with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring all documents and materials are properly filed and maintained
- Engage with clients to gather information, provide updates, and ensure they have a clear understanding of the status of their matters
- Utilize legal software such as iManage for document management
- Develop and maintain records regarding billable hours spent on specific matters
- Perform other similar or related duties, not specifically included within this position description, but which are consistent with the general level of the responsibilities described
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years Paralegal experience required; experience with Connecticut law required
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program are preferred
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and client service skills
- Knowledge of, and experience with court rules, practices and procedures
- Strong attention to detail
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software
- Perform in a high-level, fast paced environment with minimal supervision
- Strong work ethic and self-driven attitude, with a willingness to take initiative and be hands-on
Hours: Full-time, with flexibility to work additional hours as indicated by client and Firm needs.
Physical and Other Requirements
The work is primarily of an intellectual nature and requires a variety of physical capabilities. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and rarely has to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. This position requires the ability to operate a keyboard at efficient speed. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly to stand, walk, talk and hear. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
