Role Description
We are seeking a full-time HR/Legal Talent Specialist to join our team on-site in Hartford, CT. The HR/Talent Specialist serves as a key member of the Human Resources team, providing comprehensive support across recruiting, staffing operations, and professional development administration. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment and can manage multiple priorities with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism.
Qualifications
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Work with the HR team, coordinating scheduling and coverage for Legal Practice Assistants (LPAs) and Paralegals (ensure adequate staffing levels and efficient allocation of support resources across practice groups and attorneys, manage planned absences, coordinate real-time coverage adjustments for unexpected absences or fluctuations in workload, serve as the primary point of contact for scheduling conflicts and coverage requests)
· Assist in recruiting process for Attorneys, LPAs, and Paralegals
· Process and manage firmwide attorney licensing and compliance payments, including court admission renewals, attorney registration fees and bar association dues (track deadlines and issue timely reminders to attorneys across all jurisdictions
· Help manage CLE related activities and CLE compliance for attorneys at the firm (track attorney CLE credits for internal and external programs, monitor compliance, and support planning and administration of CLE programs, including monitoring attendance records and issuing certificates of attendance)
· Assist Senior Director of Legal Talent with the Associate attorney mentoring program
· Assist with Mid-Year and Year-End attorney evaluation process
· Assist the HR team with exempt and non-exempt evaluation process
· Lead the firm’s Summer Associate Program (attend work delegation meetings, help monitor assignments and workloads, distribute evaluations, solicit feedback, oversee preparation of summer associate evaluation packets)
· Process Departmental Statistics Tracking – census, PGL list, committee list, sibling list, diversity statistics, etc.
Specific Skills Needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies, Business Administration, Human Resources or related field preferred
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a human resources/talent role, within a law firm or professional services environment highly desired
- Strong service orientation and experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Skilled in analyzing problems, resolving issues written and oral communication, conflict resolution, persuasive speaking and group presentations.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the capability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Experience with CLE accreditation rules and reporting requirements a plus.
