What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Technician position at Shinkei?
What you get to do:
• Travel to fishing docks across the United States (approximately 50 percent travel) to install, maintain, and troubleshoot Poseidon robotic processing systems
• Execute mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic work following engineering procedures and safety standards
• Repair electro-mechanical assemblies including motors, actuators, gearboxes, and harnessing
• Use GUI diagnostic tools to gather logs and surface findings to engineering
• Coordinate dockside logistics including freight, parts, and service providers
• Support captains and deck crews through hands-on training and early deployment runs at sea
• When not traveling, work on-site (CA) or in Chinook/remote (WA/OR) to build robots, maintain spares, prep tooling, and support reliability testing
What you will need:
• 1 plus years of experience working with electro-mechanical systems, ideally in field service or industrial equipment
• Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency with tools and industrial machinery
• Ability to follow documented procedures and escalate when issues fall outside the plan
• Solid troubleshooting instincts and comfort working independently in remote or dynamic environments
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with both engineers and vessel operators
Bonus if you have experience with:
• Basic familiarity with diagnostics or CLI tools
• Crimping, harness building, or electrical troubleshooting
• Automotive, marine, or industrial machinery repair
