What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional/Caregiver position at Shine Adult Care, LLC.?
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide essential care and support for children and/or adults with autism and intellectual disabilities. The ideal candidate will be committed to improving the quality of life for the individuals we serve by assisting with daily living activities, encouraging independence, and creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment.
Duties
- Support clients with personal care needs and daily routines while encouraging independence and self-advocacy.
- Accompany clients into the community for recreational outings, appointments, shopping, and other activities that promote social inclusion.
- Create and maintain a safe, supportive, and engaging environment both at home and in the community.
- Encourage participation in skill-building activities that strengthen communication, social, and daily living skills.
- Foster positive relationships by modeling appropriate social interactions and providing guidance in real-world settings.
- Assist clients in setting and working toward personal goals, celebrating achievements and progress.
- Work closely with team members and families to ensure consistent, individualized support tailored to each client’s needs.
- Provide companionship, emotional support, and positive reinforcement to promote overall well-being and quality of life.
Experience
Candidates should bring skills or experience in the following areas:
- First aid and CPR certification preferred.
- Previous experience in roles such as direct care staff (DSP), or residential support worker, or Certified Nursing Assistance (CNA) is highly valued.
- Experience supporting individuals with autism and/or intellectual disabilities is strongly preferred.
- Ability to assist clients with mobility challenges and perform physical support tasks as needed.
- Strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to thrive in a team-based environment.
What we Require
- Must demonstrate kindness, patience, and a supportive approach when working with individuals.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must hold an active driver’s license, have dependable transportation, and maintain current auto insurance.
- Must have a completed high school education or equivalent (GED).
- Must be able to successfully clear all required background screenings.
