About Shiloh’s Auto Repair

Shiloh’s Auto Repair is seeking an experienced, highly skilled automotive technician who can diagnose and complete both routine and advanced mechanical repairs with minimal supervision.

Our Cleveland repair facility has five service bays and an alignment rack. We are looking for a dependable technician who takes pride in accurate diagnostics, quality workmanship, efficiency, and completing repairs correctly the first time.

This position is intended for an experienced technician—not an entry-level mechanic.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform complete automotive diagnostics using scan tools, electrical testing equipment, and manufacturer service information.
  • Diagnose and repair engine mechanical problems, cooling system failures, overheating, misfires, and oil leaks.
  • Diagnose and replace timing chains, timing chain guides, tensioners, sprockets, timing covers, and related components.
  • Perform complex water pump replacements, including Ford Explorer internal timing-chain-driven water pumps.
  • Diagnose automatic transmission problems, including shifting concerns, leaks, fault codes, and mechanical failures.
  • Perform transmission removal and replacement, and associated component repairs.
  • Perform engine removal, installation, cylinder head repairs, gasket replacement, and other major mechanical services when assigned.
  • Diagnose and repair suspension, steering, brake, electrical, HVAC, and drivetrain systems.
  • Inspect vehicles thoroughly and communicate additional legitimate repair needs.
  • Follow manufacturer specifications, torque procedures, timing procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Document diagnostic findings, completed repairs, and verification tests on repair orders.
  • Complete assigned jobs efficiently while maintaining high workmanship standards.
  • Perform necessary post-repair inspections and road tests.
  • Maintain an organized, professional, and safe work area.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of professional automotive repair experience preferred, with substantial advanced repair experience.
  • Current ASE certification required; multiple certifications strongly preferred.
  • ASE Master Automobile Technician status is a major advantage.
  • Strong hands-on experience with timing chains and major engine mechanical repairs.
  • Experience with Ford internal water pumps or similarly complex timing-driven repairs.
  • Ability to diagnose vehicle problems independently instead of relying solely on replacing parts.
  • Experience diagnosing and removing/replacing automatic transmissions.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, technical service information, and diagnostic data.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to safely operate customer vehicles.
  • Consistent attendance, professional conduct, and attention to detail.

Additional Skills That Set You Apart

  • ASE Master certification and 8–10 or more relevant ASE certifications.
  • Automatic transmission internal rebuilding experience.
  • Advanced electrical troubleshooting and drivability diagnostics.
  • Engine rebuilding or extensive internal engine repair experience.
  • Experience with domestic, Asian, and European vehicles.
  • Ability to guide or assist less-experienced technicians.

Pay and Career Advancement

We believe technicians should be compensated according to demonstrated skills, workmanship, reliability, and productivity.

Our pay structure includes:

  • Initial paid evaluation: $30 per hour for approximately 26 hours and 40 minutes during the first week (approximately $800 gross).
  • After successful evaluation: $30 per hour, approximately $1,200 gross for a 40-hour week.
  • 30-day performance review: Opportunity to increase to $32.50 per hour.
  • 60–90-day review: Opportunity to increase to $35 per hour based on demonstrated performance.

Pay increases are performance-based and are not automatic.

The initial evaluation period allows the technician and shop to confirm technical proficiency, work quality, and job expectations. All work performed will be paid.

What We Value

We are looking for someone who:

  • Can diagnose complex problems correctly.
  • Works independently without constant supervision.
  • Takes responsibility for their repairs.
  • Prioritizes quality over shortcuts.
  • Understands the importance of completing work efficiently.
  • Communicates professionally with management and coworkers.
  • Wants a long-term opportunity with room to advance.

Hiring Process

Qualified applicants will complete an initial interview, followed by verification of experience, certifications, and a paid hands-on skills evaluation.

Apply through Indeed with your resume, ASE certifications, and a brief description of the most advanced mechanical repairs you have personally completed.

Shiloh’s Auto Repair is an equal opportunity employer.
