Direct Support Professional (DSP)
Reports to the CEO & QDDP
General Responsibilities:
- Overall responsibilities are to implement supports as outline in the individuals’ support plan to accomplishment the desired outcomes
- Provide services that are person-centered and encourage age appropriateness
- Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and shows respect and dignity for individuals served
- Maintain confidential client communication and information within the agency
- Demonstrate professional and productive working relationships with peers and individuals served
- Maintain agency operations to achieve compliance with contract requirements with Federal and State, Local regulations and any other licensing regulatory agencies as directed
- Redirect and deescalate behaviors of participants
- Adhere to agency policy and procedures enhancing compliance with HIPPA requirements
- Meet timelines in completing administrative tasks, and documentation
- Attend and participate in staff meetings
- Maintain required ISP documentation for the provision of day habilitation activities and maintain a structured learning environment
- Support the agency’s mission statement
- Must be flexible, resourceful, decisive, mature, tactful and professional and demonstrate leadership skills, the ability to multitask and be organized
- Act as a coach when assigned and provide individualized supports to promote community engagement
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Be familiar with behavior modification principles and alternative techniques in working with individuals that have developmental disabilities and/or have the ability to be trained and demonstrate these skills within the first six weeks of employment;
- Must demonstrate good oral and written communication skills;
- Ability to be trained in documentation formats for record keeping;
- Ability to get along with clients and peers;
Qualifications
- One year of experience working with individuals that have developmental disabilities in either a residential program and/or a group day setting is preferred;
- Educational requirements include either a high school diploma or GED;
- Must have a satisfactory work history;
- Demonstrate the ability to work with the population served;
- Successful completion of all agencies’ training programs within the first 6 weeks of employment;
- Need to submit to random drug screening and be able to pass a criminal background investigation and child registry check;
- Manual dexterity will include, but not limited to stooping, bending, lifting, and carrying;
- Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record
Pay: From $17.50 per hour
