We’re a two-sided marketplace connecting restaurants with vetted workers looking for flexible, short-term shifts. No fluff, no gimmicks—just getting good people into good shifts when they’re needed most.
We’re in the early stages, with product development underway and initial market interest building. Our focus is on operational excellence—creating efficient, scalable systems that actually work in the real world.
Now we need someone who can help turn that momentum into a fully functioning, high-performance marketplace.
The Role
This is not a passive leadership role.
We’re looking for a hands-on Head of Operations to design, build, and run the operational backbone of Shift Punch—from first market launch through early scale.
You’ll work directly with the founder to define how this business operates day-to-day, ensuring strong execution, measurable performance, and long-term scalability.
What You’ll OwnMarketplace Launch & Growth
- Define and execute the go-to-market strategy for initial launch
- Balance supply (workers) and demand (restaurants) to ensure liquidity
- Identify and prioritize early market opportunities (roles, geographies, segments)
Operations Management & Process Design
- Oversee daily business operations and workflow execution
- Build and continuously optimize systems for onboarding, matching, and fulfillment
- Streamline processes to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability
Performance & Analytics
- Define key metrics and monitor marketplace performance
- Analyze operational data to drive decisions and improve outcomes
- Implement reporting frameworks to track growth, quality, and efficiency
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead and scale early operational efforts (contractors, partners, future hires)
- Foster a collaborative, execution-focused culture
- Work cross-functionally (product, legal, partnerships) to align on priorities
Restaurant & Worker Experience
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with restaurant partners
- Ensure a high-quality, reliable experience for workers
- Build trust and retention on both sides of the marketplace
Financial & Operational Strategy
- Manage budgets and optimize unit economics
- Pressure-test and refine pricing models
- Ensure operational decisions align with financial performance goals
Compliance & Structure
- Help navigate worker classification (1099 vs W-2) and operational risk
- Partner with legal to ensure compliant and scalable systems
What We’re Looking For
- 5 years of experience in operations leadership or management roles
- Proven experience in two-sided marketplaces, gig economy, staffing, or local service platforms
- Strong expertise in operations management, process optimization, and execution
- Experience managing budgets and driving financial performance
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate data into action
- Demonstrated ability in team leadership and cross-functional collaboration
- Strong communication skills with both internal teams and external partners
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on, results-driven mindset
- Comfortable operating in early-stage, ambiguous environments
