Duties
- Conduct thorough physical examinations and health assessments for pediatric patients, including vital signs, growth measurements, and developmental screenings.
- Diagnose and treat common childhood illnesses and injuries, utilizing advanced clinical evaluation techniques.
- Administer vaccinations, medications, and injections with precision and care, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each child's needs.
- Manage acute care cases such as respiratory distress or infections in emergency or inpatient settings, including airway management and IV infusion procedures.
- Educate families on health maintenance, disease prevention, nutrition, medication administration, and developmental milestones.
- Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or eClinicalWorks while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in clinical research initiatives or quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing pediatric healthcare delivery.
Skills
- Proven experience working with children across diverse healthcare environments such as clinics, hospitals (including Level I Trauma Centers), or emergency rooms.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for efficient medical documentation and coding (CPT, ICD-10).
- Strong knowledge of pediatric physiology, anatomy, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Skilled in performing procedures such as suturing, lumbar punctures (spinal taps), catheterization, phlebotomy, and sterile processing techniques.
- Familiarity with telehealth platforms to provide remote consultations and follow-up care for pediatric patients.
- Ability to manage complex cases involving behavioral health issues or developmental disabilities with sensitivity and professionalism.
- Experience with acute pain management strategies and medication administration tailored for children’s unique needs.
- Knowledge of Workers' Compensation law related to pediatric injuries or illnesses treated in occupational health settings.
