Job Summary: The PET Safety Director is responsible for ensuring that Shields PET Services provide the highest level of patient care in an environment that presents minimal risks to its patients, visitors and employees. Job Description: PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: In collaboration with PET Leadership Team ensure each clinical site meets safety requirements including those of the Department of Public Health, Radiation Safety, and ACR accreditation/planning. Visit all sites on a regular basis to interact with the PET Team and support Quality and Safety initiatives and verify requirements are being met. Oversee the site preparedness process in collaboration with PET Leadership Team Working directly with the Medical Director on the coordination and implementation if directives to ensure patient and employee safety throughout the PET network. Create, update, review and manage the full policy and procedure process; Collaborate with Radiation Safety Officer and PET employees on Radiation Safety, including being a member of the Radiation Safety Committee, engagement in employee badge process including follow up as needed with employees on techniques to meet the ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) principles. Review patient incidents, reporting and oversee corrective action plans as executed by sites in a prompt manner. Analyze trend data to avoid future occurrences and to ensure changes or corrective actions are implemented. Collaborate with the Chief Transformation, Compliance and Risk Management Officer on any incident requiring a root cause analysis, legal action or reporting to a regulatory agency. Oversee compliance of the site’s code of professional conduct, protocols, policies, and procedures; including but not limited to risk monitoring, evaluation and reporting to the Medical Director or Chief Transformation, Compliance and Risk Management Officer, if necessary. Oversee patient feedback programs and work with managers in developing and implementing changes and/or corrective action. Oversee student technologists to ensure they are educated on all quality and safety initiatives and receive appropriate coaching and training based on their program and progression through their program. Coordinate and attend meetings and conference calls as needed. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from a nuclear medicine program. Bachelor’s degree helpful but clinical experience can replace this. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 5-7 years’ experience as a nuclear medicine technologist. Experience in supervising or coaching others to reach mutual goals. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to sit for extended periods of time. Ability to travel for long distances by car. Ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time. Can be met with or without accommodation. INTERNAL/EXTERNAL INTERACTIONS: This position requires extensive interaction with all Shields Health Care Group employees, joint venture partners, vendors, and local community and government agencies. Additional Job Description: The salary range for this position is $80,000-$155,000 bonus opportunity benefits. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors. It is not intended that this Job Description include all details of the work functions of this position. The incumbent will perform work of lower or equivalent classification as required or directed, and work of higher classification for training and development purposes or as situationally warranted.
