What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head of Capital Origination position at Shields Group Search?
Head of Capital Formation & Investor Relations
Location: United States, Remote
Compensation: Salary meaningful carry/equity upside upon Fund 1 close
Overview
Shields Group Search is partnering with a newly forming, stealth-mode venture capital firm focused on the Cybersecurity x AI opportunity emerging out of Israel and the U.S.
The fund is being built by a differentiated founding team spanning national cybersecurity, critical infrastructure security, enterprise technology, AI, strategic investing, and venture formation. The firm is now seeking a U.S.-based Head of Capital Formation & Investor Relations to lead the fundraising process for Fund 1, targeting approximately $100M to $300M.
The immediate need is a senior fundraising and LP development leader who can own the capital formation process, build and manage the LP pipeline, sharpen the fund’s market-facing narrative, and help close capital from institutional LPs, family offices, fund-of-funds, strategic investors, and sophisticated HNW backers.
After Fund 1 is raised, this person will continue to own investor relations, LP communications, capital partner management, and fundraising strategy for future vehicles.
Fund Thesis & Differentiation
Humanity might be in danger: technology and AI are advancing faster than ever, likely at an exponential pace, and the scale of the business opportunity is growing just as rapidly.
In business, being in the right place at the right time is the ultimate goal - and we believe that investing in Israel’s cybersecurity sector in the coming years is a strong embodiment of that principle. Israel is a global cyber leader and one of the best places in the world to discover the next generation of cybersecurity startups.
THE COMPETITIVE EDGE
New Cybersecurity & AI Architecture Vision — A holistic system-wide approach born from one of the top 5 leading technology companies, moving beyond point solutions. An existing portfolio of potential startups anchors this vision.
Critical Infrastructure & OT Expertise — World-class depth in operational technology and critical infrastructure cybersecurity, the highest-stakes and most underserved segment of the market.
The team includes:
- A former senior government cybersecurity leader with deep ties into Israel’s cyber ecosystem and strong proprietary deal flow
- A former U.S. federal technology executive with expertise in critical infrastructure and OT security
- A world-class AI expert from one of the world’s leading technology companies, selected to lead the development of a new AIxCybersecurity vision, which also shapes the fund’s thesis.
- An American cybersecurity executive who has served as Co-Manager and Partner of a strategic investment fund that spearheaded $1B in cybersecurity investments and acquisitions, and as Partner at a leading U.S. consulting firm running its cyber consulting practice
- An international entrepreneur with extensive experience in capital raising and building large-scale ventures
What You’ll Do
- Lead the end-to-end fundraising process for Fund 1, targeting approximately $100M to $300M
- Own LP pipeline development, outreach strategy, meeting preparation, follow-up, diligence coordination, and closing process
- Build relationships with institutional LPs, family offices, fund-of-funds, strategic investors, consultants, advisors, and HNW capital partners
- Help translate the founding team’s thesis, background, and network into a compelling LP-facing fundraising story
- Refine the fund narrative, positioning, pitch materials, data room, LP updates, and diligence materials
- Bring process discipline and urgency to a first-time fundraise, including CRM management, target lists, outreach cadence, and pipeline tracking
- Own investor relations after Fund 1 close, including LP communications, quarterly updates, annual meeting preparation, and ongoing capital partner engagement
- Support future fundraising strategy, including subsequent vehicles, SPVs, co-investment opportunities, and LP re-ups
What We’re Looking For
- Senior capital formation, investor relations, fundraising, or business development leader with a strong track record raising capital for funds or private investment vehicles
- Proven ability to lead a fundraise, not just support one
- Demonstrated relationships across institutional LPs, family offices, fund-of-funds, strategic investors, consultants, advisors, and sophisticated private capital sources
- Experience with venture capital, growth equity, private equity, alternatives, technology investing, cybersecurity investing, or emerging managers strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of how LPs evaluate new funds, first-time funds, emerging managers, and differentiated theses
- Ability to translate a complex Cybersecurity x AI thesis into a clear, compelling allocator-facing story
- Highly organized, process-driven, and credible in high-stakes LP conversations
- Comfort operating in a formation-stage, stealth-mode environment with ambiguity, urgency, and high ownership.
Why This Role
This is an opportunity to join a stealth venture firm at the formation stage and lead the capital formation effort for a highly differentiated Cybersecurity x AI fund. The founding team already brings deep cybersecurity, AI, government, critical infrastructure, strategic investing, and GTM expertise. The missing piece is a dedicated capital formation leader who can turn that foundation into a successful Fund 1 raise and build the LP franchise around it.
