Intake Specialist (SUD Certified and Bilingual – English / Spanish) ***Urgently Hiring

Tuesday to Friday – 11:00 am to 7:30 pm and Saturday - 8:30 am to 5:00 pm

Salary/Non-Exempt : $22.12 to $24.04(hourly)

*** Clients/Families we serve reside in the South Los Angeles, Compton, Watts and Lynwood area.

SHIELDS’ mission is to develop, deliver and evaluate culturally sensitive, comprehensive service models that empower and advocate for high-risk families in South Los Angeles.

The Intake Specialist provides participants with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment and eliminate substance abuse barriers to employment and enhance emotional well-being in order to achieve financial security, stability and self-sufficiency.

Primary Duties:

  • Complete all program registration and intake for program enrollment. Complete all tasks associated with program enrollment: prepare chart, collect all pertinent client data, complete intake, provide client with all program information.
  • Coordinate care for all new enrolled participants- coordination of care include: communication with court, social workers, DMV, attorneys, and other identified key supports
  • Data Entry: enter all new enrolled clients into the appropriate systems (ADM), collect and track all fees associated with program enrollment.
  • Assist in performing data entry on the Caloms online system for Substance Abuse Prevention Control (SAPC)
  • Collect information related to the client's socio-economic history, treatment history, and other information related to the formulation of a treatment plan.
  • ·Assist clients in formulating a treatment plan at intake and make revisions as necessary.
  • Assist in conducting assessments quarterly on all active clients and maintain tracking system.
  • Assist in maintain client rosters for verification of LCAPRS and billing
  • Assist in oversee the billing for substance abuse division is received by programs weekly.
  • Assist Administrator with administrative duties
  • Maintain program staffing and client schedules.
  • Respond to request for information about the program.
  • Assist with special events and meetings.
  • Can provide individual client support as identified
  • May support with providing group services
  • Enter data on a computer system using a variety of software programs, including Microsoft Word,   Excel, Access and other specialized software.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience

  • MUST BE CERTIFIED as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor with a state approved certifying agency.

  • Bilingual – English & Spanish – required.

  • A working knowledge of conducting individual counseling sessions for those with a history of substance abuse issues and their families.

  • Strong working knowledge of crisis intervention and individual counseling, documentation and multicultural and socio-economic issues.

  • Know and comply with Agency policies and procedures, HIPAA, SAPC policies and documentation guidelines, and other state/federal regulations.

  • Basic advocacy skills.

  • Present ideas, information, and viewpoints clearly, both verbally and in writing.

  • Efficiently use the personal computer to include a variety of word processing software.

  • Utilize analysis, experience, and judgment to make decisions.

  • Demonstrate commitment to team objectives and SHIELDS For Families philosophies.

  • Adapt to changing needs by acquiring new skills and knowledge.

  • Provides services within a culturally sensitive, ethnic informed model of practice and is respectful to the community and clients.

  • These requirements are typically met by a combination of high school diploma or equivalent , C.A.C., or equivalent experience in drug treatment . Demonstrated therapeutic skills through prior education, training and work experience. Must be registered and/or certified with a counseling certifying agency.
