GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Infant Mental Health Specialist provides intensive outreach and in-home therapeutic and case management services, as part of a treatment team, to children, ages 0 through 47 months, and their families. They should be also capable of addressing the mental health needs of infants/toddlers and parents/caregivers, in an attempt to support the healthy functioning of infants at psychosocial risk, with the intent that early intervention will promote mental health through the preventions of attachment disorders. The Infant Mental Health Specialist is responsible for assisting the Regional Educational School District with the completion of Early On evaluations, facilitating linkages to appropriate resources, and coordinating services with other providers. They will provide twenty-four-hour crisis intervention to the children of Shiawassee county on a rotating, on-call basis. They will coordinate mental health services with those of other partner community agencies to prevent out-of-home placement and to promote individual, family, and community functioning. The Infant Mental Health Specialist shall be responsible to the Supervisor of Services for Children and Families or to other supervisory staff as designated by the Chief Executive Officer.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Master's degree in social work, clinical psychology, or other related mental health service fields from an accredited university.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of two years' experience providing therapeutic, case management, and/or out-reach services to children, preferably infant and toddlers, and families.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
Current requisite professional licensure
MiAIMH Infant Family Specialist Certification (formerly known as IMH Level II) or higher
