The Sherwood Companies have a proven track record of completing a variety of projects from General Construction to Construction Management and Design Build Projects for both public and private owners. A brief summary of the types of projects include urban expressways, bridges, underground utilities, dam construction, asphalt/concrete paving and water/wastewater treatment plants.
Sherwood Construction has the ability to self-perform many types of civil construction including earthwork and site prep, concrete and asphalt paving, civil and structural concrete, rock excavation, piling and sheet piling, sub-grade stabilization, and water/waste-water treatment facilities. We also have a tremendous amount of experience with all underground utilities including sanitary sewer, water, storm sewer, and main electrical distribution.
JOB DESCRIPTION |
The Welder Fabricator may be involved in the creation of new structures or objects and/or may be required to repair existing ones. This role is responsible for rebuilding ground engaging tools or building one-off items for equipment. The Welder Fabricator will be working with various crews cutting or welding structures as needed. Under general supervision, this individual must independently perform duties in a safe & efficient manner and must be comfortable communicating directly with all Mechanics and Foremen in the heavy construction industry. The incumbent will need to operate in a safe and efficient manner following all personal protective equipment (PPE) and process requirements. Travel may be required. This role is classified as safety sensitive. |

ACTIVITIES/TASKS/SCOPE |
· Ability to follow instructions · Work as a member of a team and with all crews doing necessary tasks to complete a job · Operate hand tools and other equipment in order to complete a task and/or job · Ensure work quality by preserving and maintaining work being done, as well as, completed work · Follow company safety policies and apply improved work practices to ensure safe & efficient operations and jobsite · Read & interpret engineering plans and blueprints (recognizing welding symbols & specifications) · Utilize blueprints along with other data, such as work plans, to develop and design welding projects · Perform detailed work techniques such as laying out, cutting, fitting, measuring and welding metals · Regularly inspect & test welds and equipment such as dozer blades, wheel loader buckets, scraper pans, push blocks, etc. to ensure completed work is durable and meets specified standards · Possess knowledge of welding processes and machinery such as stick, MIG, TIG and ARC · Perform repairs when wear and tear is identified · Able to utilize heavy machinery such as forklifts and manlifts as well as various saws and grinders · Capable of using oxygen/acetylene torch · Perform other related duties as assigned |
