Duties
- Oversee daily operations of the dietary department, ensuring efficient meal preparation and service aligned with residents’ dietary needs and care plans
- Develop, implement, and monitor menus that meet nutritional standards and accommodate special diets such as tube feeding or diagnostic evaluation requirements
- Supervise dietary staff, providing leadership, training, and performance evaluations to foster a motivated team
- Conduct patient assessments to tailor meal plans that support health coaching goals and promote optimal physiology outcomes
- Manage budgeting processes for the dietary department to ensure cost-effective procurement of food supplies while maintaining quality standards
- Ensure compliance with all health regulations, safety protocols, and documentation related to assisted living facilities and dietary services
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to create comprehensive care plans that incorporate specialized nutrition strategies
Experience
- Proven management experience within a dietary or nutrition department, preferably in assisted living or healthcare settings
- Demonstrated supervising experience leading teams in fast-paced environments with a focus on quality service delivery
- Strong background in dietetics, nutrition science, physiology knowledge, and understanding of care plans for diverse populations
- Familiarity with patient assessment techniques including tube feeding management and diagnostic evaluation considerations
- Experience with budgeting, inventory control, and resource management within a dietary department
- Knowledge of health coaching principles to support residents’ wellness journeys and promote healthy eating habits
- Prior involvement in assisted living facilities or similar environments is highly desirable
Qualifications
- Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) credential required
- Experience in skilled nursing facility (SNF), long-term care, hospital, or healthcare food service preferred
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets and long-term care dietary regulations
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
