CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
(1) REGULATORY ASSESSMENT OF RAW MATERIALS AND FINISHED GOODS:
- Interpret regulatory requirements for raw materials (RMs) and finished goods (FGs) across divisions and regions.
- Identify and address variations or conflicts in regulations by product type or geography.
- Collaborate with regional teams to ensure consistent regulatory understanding and application.
(2) PROJECT MANAGEMENT:
- Coordinate cross-functional projects related to regulatory compliance and raw material assessments.
- Develop and manage project timelines, deliverables, and milestones to ensure timely execution.
- Facilitate communication between internal teams and external stakeholders to align project goals.
- Track progress and provide regular updates to leadership on project status and risks.
(3) SYSTEM MANAGEMENT:
- Oversee implementation and maintenance of regulatory systems and databases.
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy within compliance tracking systems.
- Collaborate with IT and business units to enhance system functionality and user experience.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to maintain operational efficiency.
(4) CUSTOMER SUPPORT:
- Respond routinely to internal and external customer inquiries.
- Represent functional area in project meetings.
- Monitor and articulate issues which will impact S-W products or our customers.
- Develop responses to Agency inquiries for review by Manager and Legal.
- Lead efforts to respond to complex customer inquiries or certification statements.
(5) CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT:
- Recommend and implement process or system enhancements to meet evolving regulatory requirements.
- Partner with team leads to facilitate the enrichment of product or raw material data to support departmental business and project needs.
- Make recommendations for and drive departmental continuous improvement projects to improve data access, data integrity or data enrichment.
- Deliver training to new team members and cross-functional partners to build regulatory awareness.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
FORMAL EDUCATION:
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in sciences such as chemistry, engineering, industrial hygiene, or similar
Preferred:
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution in sciences such as chemistry, engineering, industrial hygiene, or similar
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- 3 years’ experience in product stewardship or regulatory affairs
- Proven experience managing regulatory requirements for raw materials and finished goods.
Preferred:
- 6 years’ experience in product stewardship or regulatory affairs
- Experience with global regulatory requirements
TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Required:
- Expertise in Globally Harmonized System (GHS) and Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) regulations.
- Experience defining or implementing requirements for regulatory or formula management systems
- Experience in paint & coatings or chemical industry
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with internal team members, cross-functional stakeholders, and IT partners.
- Attention to detail.
- Organization and prioritization skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced team environment, both independently and collaboratively.
Preferred:
- Experience defining or implementing requirements for Sherwin-Williams internal regulatory and formula management systems, including HEARS, PV, and RMDM.
- Demonstrated experience leading projects.
- Proficiency in common project management methods such as chartering, user story writing, requirements gathering and documentation, status reporting, etc.
- Experience delivering technical presentations to diverse audiences.
