What are the responsibilities and job description for the Entry Level RPG Programmer position at Sherrill Furniture Brands?
Summary of Position:
Responsible for RPG activities related to implementation, development and maintenance of our I-Series systems within Sherrill Furniture Companies.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, test, debug, and modify application programs or code using RPG (IV/ILE/free), CL and SQL programming
- Work directly with the business to understand business requirements and translate them into documented functional and technical recommendations
- Work on production support; handle critical situations and resolution of incidents raised by users
- Develop and contribute to Department Standards & Best Practices
· Create reports and mine data for Management requests (new reports)
- Ability to quickly and effectively balance production support with project needs
- Support and develop programs including but are not limited to Order Entry, Purchasing, Materials Management, Scheduling, Costing, Accounting, and Manufacturing
- Develop and support label/barcode needs
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience is required.
Strong manufacturing background is a requirement
Furniture background with domestic manufacturing is desired
Specific Skills/Abilities Required:
RPG (IV/ILE/free) and CL Programming
IBM AS400/iSeries/Power Systems
SQL working knowledge
API working knowledge – a plus
Organizational Relationships / Management Role:
No management responsibility.
Reports directly to the Director of IT, Applications. Works closely with Programmers, Systems/Business Analyst, entire IT team, and other critical business leads for all departments and divisions.
