Overnight Lab Specimen Accessioners

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Clinical Laboratory Accessioner / Specimen Processor to join our team. In this critical pre-analytical role, you will ensure that patient specimens are accurately received, verified, data-entered, and prepared for clinical testing. Your precision directly impacts patient care and diagnostic turnaround times.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for accurate processing of patient specimens including receipt and data entry into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Follows all written Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Labels specimens and transports to the laboratory sections to be tested.
• Performs clerical duties necessary to process specimens.
• Responsible for all documentation required for the tasks performed.
• Ensures proper and complete patient identification on requisitions and specimen labels.
• Properly handles ambient, refrigerated, and frozen specimens.
• Prepares specimens for delivery.
• Aliquots specimens, ensuring proper labeling.
• Properly operates centrifuges.
• Prepares specimens for delivery by creating STLs (Specimen Transfer Lists) and packaging according to specimen temperature.
• Completes required training courses such as Safety and HIPAA in a timely manner.
• Attends staff meetings and in-service sessions to assure job competency and communication.
• Performs accessioning review on a designated basis.

Education and Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent

• Ability to distinguish various types of collection containers
• Prior knowledge of laboratory tests

Shifts:

Friday thru Tuesday 10pm-6a

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40.0 per week
