We are seeking a detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our growing team. This position plays a critical role in the success of every project by preparing accurate estimates, managing project costs, collaborating with internal teams, and helping ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Position Summary
The Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for residential remodeling and construction projects. Working closely with the Sales, Design, Production, Purchasing, and Accounting teams, this individual will develop accurate proposals, coordinate subcontractor and vendor pricing, evaluate project changes, and support project profitability from initial estimate through project completion.
Key Responsibilities
EstimatingProposal Development
- Review project information and scope with the Sales team.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and customer selections.
- Prepare detailed material takeoffs using PlanSwift.
- Solicit and evaluate pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
- Verify estimate accuracy before proposal preparation.
- Prepare complete project estimates and pricing proposals.
- Collaborate with Sales to review estimates and finalize customer proposals.
- Revise estimates and proposals as project scope changes.
- Notify vendors and subcontractors upon project award.
Project Cost Management
- Monitor project costs throughout the construction process.
- Compare actual selections and material costs against estimated budgets.
- Review field-generated scope changes and prepare updated pricing.
- Prepare and assist in presenting change orders to homeowners.
- Work with Accounting to manage budgets, payment schedules, and change orders.
- Support Production by maintaining estimate accuracy throughout project execution.
VendorSubcontractor Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
- Obtain competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards.
- Monitor pricing trends and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Maintain vendor and subcontractor pricing databases.
Process Improvement
- Update estimating templates and pricing tools as needed.
- Assist in maintaining estimating systems, including Clear Estimates.
- Identify opportunities to improve estimating accuracy, project profitability, and sales conversion.
- Recommend process improvements that reduce lead times and improve operational efficiency.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Experience estimating residential construction or remodeling projects preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of PlanSwift experience required.
- Strong understanding of residential construction methods, materials, and estimating practices.
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to interpret construction plans, specifications, and drawings.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction estimating software.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Clear Estimates software.
- Residential remodeling estimating experience.
- Knowledge of vendor and subcontractor management.
