Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to provide expert, patient-focused wound care services in outpatient Wound Clinic on a Part Time basis. The Ideal candidate is experienced in wound assessment, treatment planning, and management, and is comfortable working independently in a rural hospital setting. The Position will help support all aspects of care within the Wound Clinic. The NP/PA will provide medical care to patients as outlined in their collaborative agreement under the oversight of their supervising physician in the Specialty Clinic. Knowledge and advanced skills with advanced physical assessment and treatment of complex wounds, management of skin integrity and chronic care management is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accurately performs history and physical examinations on patients with acute and chronic wounds.
- Assess, diagnose and manage chronic conditions for patient population.
- Identifies deviations from normal, initiates and evaluates treatment for patients with commonly occurring health problems within scope of practice.
- Consults, co-manages or refers as appropriate.
- Prescribes medications as delegated in the protocols and/or office staff regarding any changes in patient’s condition.
- Communicates with collaborating provider(s) as outlined in the agreement and state guidelines.
- Develops, implements and/or participates in research or educational activities.
- Maintains competency in clinical practice and meets and maintains requirements for all certifications.
- Ensures proper documentation of diagnoses and procedures performed to allow for appropriate coding.
- Assess and creates treatment plans and prescribes medication in accordance with state requirements and organization protocols.
- Initiates evaluation and treatment procedures essential to appropriate response to emergency wound and ostomy situations.
- Participate in education of patients as well as Managed care organizations and RestorixHealth staff to assure best outcomes and most current clinical practice. Ensures full availability during hours assigned/agreed upon with Specialty Clinic and RestorixHealth.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Participates in quality improvement activities and monitoring of health outcomes for patients.
- Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements to achieve clinical, satisfactions and/or efficiency outcomes.
- Work to ensure the continuity of the mission, vision, and values of the hospital
- Responsible for ensuring current state license.
- Participate in quality improvement projects. Attend training and meetings as required
- Maintains awareness of current quality and safety measures on the unit and follows guidelines or reporting measures to ensure safety of patients, visitors, and staff.
- Knowledge and skills in quality improvement and research methodologies.
Qualifications
- Master’s or Doctoral Degree as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- Valid FNP/PA license
- 2 years APRN/PA experience preferred
- Current or pending certification by an approved professional certification organization
- Prescriptive authority BLS from American Heart Association
