We are seeking a compassionate and dependable 1:1 Special Education Instructional Assistant to support a single elementary student in our Sheridan Pod classroom. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building meaningful relationships, helping students develop confidence and independence, and working collaboratively with teachers and families to support student success.
About the Role
The 1:1 Special Education Instructional Assistant provides individualized instructional and behavioral support for one student in grades K-5 under the supervision of a licensed teacher. Working closely with the classroom teacher, this position reinforces instruction, supports positive behavior, and helps create a safe, engaging learning environment where students can thrive.
This is a part-time, in-person position based in our Sheridan Pod classroom during the 2026-2027 school year.
What You'll Do
- Provide one-on-one instructional support aligned with teacher-directed lesson plans
- Reinforce academic skills through individualized and small-group learning activities
- Support positive behavior, social-emotional development, and student independence
- Assist with implementing behavior support strategies and classroom routines
- Monitor student progress and communicate observations to the supervising teacher
- Prepare instructional materials and classroom resources
- Supervise and support the student throughout the school day
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to promote student success
- Participate in required meetings, trainings, and professional development
- Maintain student confidentiality and a safe, supportive learning environment

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Meet all Oregon requirements for educational assistants
- Experience working with children in an instructional, educational, or supervisory setting preferred
- College coursework in education or a related field is preferred but not required
Work Environment
This position includes:
- In-person support in our Sheridan Pod classroom
- Working directly with one elementary-aged student
- Regular collaboration with licensed teachers and school staff
- Occasional lifting, bending, kneeling, and active movement throughout the school day
- Both indoor and outdoor student supervision as needed

Position Details
- Location: Sheridan Pod – Sheridan, Oregon (97378)
- Schedule: Tuesday-Thursday, approximately 5-5.5 hours per day (final schedule to be determined)
- School Year: 2026-2027
- Attendance is required at the SHAPA Staff Retreat in August and monthly virtual staff meetings.
- Salary: Placement is based on the Sheridan AllPrep Academy Classified Salary Schedule
