Job description
Banquet houseman prepares facilities for meetings and banquet events per client’s requirements, i.e. set tables, chairs, risers, tablecloths and skirting, pads, pens, glasses, flip charts and easels. Cleans function rooms before and after meetings and banquets, as part of teamwork. Refreshes meeting rooms during breaks.
Essential Functions
- Ability to read and interpret Banquet Event and Convention Orders, handle multiple tasks, and maintain a friendly outgoing personality.
- Report for work punctually wearing the correct uniform and name badge at all times.
- Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene at all times
- Provide courteous and professional service at all times.
- Placing tables, chairs, risers etc. per meeting specifications, or diagram layout. Placing meeting condiments (pads, pens, mints, water) on tables.
- Setting up water stations, or buffets with linen and skirting. Breakdown of all the same.
- Sweep, vacuum, mop of convention rooms, open and close air walls as needed to accommodate client room needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sets up banquet room as instructed by supervisor, including linen, service-ware, and glassware
- Ensures a proper supply of clean dishware, utensils, and glassware to stock the dining areas and set tables
- Removes dishes as guests complete each course and/or at the end of the meal or function
- Resets banquet room after an event according to supervisor's direction
- Follows safety and sanitation rules and practices
- Cleans work areas and all equipment used in food preparation
- Serves food and/or beverages is required area
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Experienced
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects (50 lbs plus) as needed
- Helpful attitude and friendly demeanor
- Has reliable transportation
- Able to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
