Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) programs provide comprehensive, mobile treatment services for adults with a persistent mental health illness. The program is for individuals who have not found success in traditional outpatient settings and who require individualized treatment services when and where it’s needed.

What to expect:

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides direct psychiatric services through evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment, including prescribing and managing medications. Clients are seen in their homes or community settings, with visits occurring at least monthly. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Nurse Practitioner plays a key role in supporting stabilization, recovery, and ongoing community living.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Provide psychiatric evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment, including prescribing and managing medications.
  • Conduct home and community visits to deliver care directly in client environments.
  • Assess clients monthly, monitoring symptoms, treatment response, and side effects.
  • Participate in daily team meetings to review client needs, plan schedules, and anticipate potential crises.
  • Provide crisis intervention and back-up psychiatric coverage when needed.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with medical record standards.
  • Collaborate closely with the ACT team to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.

What we need from you:

  • Active Maryland Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) license and Maryland Controlled Substances Registration with valid DEA Certificate.
  • Minimum two years of experience preferred, including training and practical experience with acute psychiatric patients.
  • Expertise in psychotropic medications and comprehensive knowledge of mental health treatment.


The pay range for this position is $67,500 minimum to $92,500 maximum. Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors, including but not limited to, board certifications and years and level of related experience.
