Mechanic - 1st Grade

Job Description:

• Drive School Bus Routes and Trips when needed. Move vehicles if needed.
• Clean vehicles including, but not limited to, sweeping, wiping down driver area, cleaning windows, washing exterior of vehicles, and dumping/cleaning restrooms
• Fuel vehicles
• Operate Hot Water Pressure Washer to clean engine and undercarriage of vehicles
• Quarterly inspection A - State sheet, Sheppard Bus Quarterly, Grease, brake inspection, tire inspection, Health report, Camera inspection, and GPS inspection
• Quarterly Inspection B – Including, but not limited to, brake replacement, king pin replacement, suspension work, electrical multiplex, minor repairs of inspections i.e. lights, seat covers, etc.
• Perform Preventative Maintenance i.e. oil change, chassis lube, etc.
• Certified Bus Attendant/Aide including, but not limited to, Pre-K Students, Handicapped Students, Behavioral Students, and Wheelchair Students to cover routes when need.

Diagnostic Ability:

• Capability to retrieve codes in any and all vehicles. Find necessary fault code trouble tree and perform all tasks in repair necessary. Technician should be able to perform with very little to no assistance. Mechanic should be able to research all needed case/literature necessary for repair.

Certifications:
Must have at least one of the following Brake Certificates:

• • ASE(Automotive Service Excellence) certified
  • Vocational degree
  • Manufacture training certificate

Must have at least one of the following International Certificates:

• • Foundation
  • Basics

Must have at least one of the following A/C Certificates:

Job Requirements:

• Valid NJ CDL Class B Driver’s License with Passenger, School bus, and Airbrake
• Endorsements
• Criminal History Check (will be reimbursed after 90 days of employment)
• Drug Test

Wage Range: 32.00 - 32.00 per hour
