Direct Support Professional (DSP / SSP)

Make a meaningful difference by providing one‑on‑one support to a young woman with cerebral palsy and intellectual disabilities. This position is best suited for someone experienced, dependable, and comfortable providing hands‑on personal care in both home and community settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide hands‑on personal care and assistance with healthcare routines
• Support communication using a tablet‑based communication system
• Assist with safe physical transfers (chair to mat, bathtub, etc.)
• Use mechanical lift equipment (training provided) to ensure safety
• Encourage independence, daily living skills, and community participation
• Follow care plans using instruction, modeling, physical assistance, and positive reinforcement
• Remain calm, observant, and adaptable to changing needs during shifts

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience supporting individuals with disabilities
• Ability to safely assist with transfers and lift up to 155 lbs
• Strong reliability, patience, and emotional awareness
• Clear communication skills and ability to follow detailed care plans
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to pass required background checks
• Must live within driving distance of Mount Joy, PA

Schedule Requirements (Please Read Carefully)

• Primary shifts: Daytime shift 8AM to 4PM PM Evenings, 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM
• Weekend availability: At least one weekend day per month
• Additional shifts may include:
• Day shift: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Evening shift: 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM
• Range of hours per week 16hrs to 20hrs per week, possibility more.
• NO FULL TIME HOURS
• Must be available for required training and orientation shifts
