Duties
- Implement and monitor behavior management strategies based on individualized care plans, ensuring consistency and effectiveness.
- Conduct behavioral therapy sessions utilizing applied behavior analysis techniques to promote skill development and reduce challenging behaviors.
- Assist children with activities of daily living (ADLs), including grooming, feeding, toileting, and other self-care tasks to foster independence.
- Collect and analyze data on behavioral progress, documenting observations accurately in compliance with medical records and HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop, review, and update personalized care plans tailored to each child's needs.
- Support educational activities by teaching social skills, communication techniques, and functional life skills aligned with special education principles.
- Maintain a safe and positive environment by adhering to behavioral health protocols, medical terminology standards, and confidentiality requirements.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children or individuals with developmental disabilities is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of behavioral therapy methods, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and behavior management techniques.
- Ability to assist with ADLs and support patient care in a compassionate manner.
- Strong understanding of medical documentation practices, medical terminology, and maintaining accurate medical records.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with families, educators, therapists, and healthcare professionals.
- Patience, adaptability, and a positive attitude essential for working with children on the autism spectrum or with other developmental needs.
- Certification or training in behavioral health or related fields is a plus but not required; willingness to learn is essential.
